Obama: Jimmy Carter's 2nd Term
Even democrats are comparing the Obama administration to the failed presidency of Jimmy Carter. Read about it here. For the record, I said this very thing before his inauguration! Here's proof.
That's an interesting point. I will say that some people are also seeing remarkable parallels between the Obama presidency to Reagan's first term. In any event, President Obama will have to answer for his actions in November of 2012 independent of either Reagan or Carter. Let's hope that regardless of what happens then, President Obama will make decisions that ultimately are in the long-term best interest of the country.
I don't mean to be contentious, but I was alive in the 70s and 80s. I lived through the Carter administration and proudly cast my 1st presidential ballot for Ronald Reagan. To say compare Obama to Reagan is laughable and requires incredible intellectual contortions.
Reagan won with the assistance of Democrats. Obama is the most polarizing political figure in my lifetime and quite possibly in the history of our country. Reagan had the complication of a democratic-controlled Congress (who controlled the budget, btw) and yet still managed to bring us out of a demoralizing recession. Obama with a likeminded Congress has offered economic policies that are historically proven to be detrimental to our financial state, but as an ideologue refuses to abandon Keynesian theories. (I personally think there is more to it than just a devotion to Keynes, but that's for another blog...)
I'm a pastor's wife (which proves God has a sense of humor). I want a pause button on life so I can finally catch up. I'm a proud Southerner who wants to write a novel. My life often resembles an episode of "I Love Lucy"! One of the items on my bucket list is to stand at the end of the rainbow (it can actually be done!).
