Girl Power!

I had planned to blog about McCain's VP choice, but a friend of mine has already done a fine job on the matter.

Go Sarah!

Yeah, unfortunately Rush was kind of an accidentally acquired taste. As I believe Stephen Colbert said, their songs are so long that sometimes at the end of one they find themselves being influenced by the beginning of their own work.
I'm not so sure about Sarah Palin, by the way. I think it's a great opportunity for her, on one level, but I don't really think that McCain chose her for any reason other than to make a point, and I think that she really doesn't have the experience. However, if we're setting her up as an up-and-coming, I think that's great, because if she can get some limelight, she might have a better shot in 2012 or 2016. My other concern comes from the fact that less than 5 months after giving birth to a son with Down's syndrome, she is going on the campaign trail. I don't care if someone offered to make me the diplomat to Uganda, your family has to be your first priority. I truly respect her positions on things, but I'm not convinced that this is the best situation.

Two separate issues: 1) Her experience; 2) Her choices in light of her family. Being the governor of Alaska gives her more experience than the average governor simply by virtue of the issues tied to Alaska (oil, etc). The Alaskan Nat'l Guard is tied to the Strategic Air Command due to proximity of Asia/Russia.

Re: Family. I have those concerns. I'm a traditionalist - in a perfect world I want my leaders to be men. However, nature abhors a vacumn and when men fail to lead, women must. Deborah in the book of Judges is a prime example (who, by the way, defeated a Barack...).
